The Undertaker Calls Roman Reigns & Drew McIntyre “Two Legitimately Great Stars”

The Undertaker has heaped praise on four of the men he’s shared the ring with in recent years, while discussing trying to “erase the stink” of his Goldberg clash in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, The Deadman called WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns “two legitimately great stars” as well as heaping praise on Elias and Shane McMahon.

Following WWE Super ShowDown 2019, Undertaker’s match with WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg was critically panned, but The Deadman didn’t need to wait too long for redemption as a tag team encounter at WWE Extreme Rules saw Taker and Reigns take on Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon in a No Holds Barred match. The Undertaker remembers it fondly.

“That match meant a lot to me. I go all the way back with Shane to when he was in college. I have a long-lasting relationship with all the Samoans, and Roman is one of the Samoan greats. As a human being, I think the world of Roman. And Drew is one of those genuine guys. Anytime I’m around, he’s right there picking my brain. He’s not doing it because it looks good to others, he does it because he genuinely wants to get better. Those are two legitimately great stars.”

The match, however, wouldn’t be contained to those four Superstars as Elias attacked The Undertaker right as he went for The Last Ride on McMahon – and The Drifter isn’t immune to praise either.

“Elias deserves a lot of credit, too, for that matter, because he was another guy involved in making that match. The energy level was high, and I had a bit of comfort working with all those guys.”

The Deadman went on to say it was a “fun night” that went some way to restoring his faith in his own abilities following a disappointing encounter with two-time Universal Champion Goldberg.

“I was trying to erase that stain out of memory [from the Goldberg match]. I’ve heard from so many people who think they know all about wrestling and what I should do, but no one has any idea how I grade myself. It’s far more severe than people may think, and my expectations for what I do are higher than people think, too. So that was a fun night. We were all on the same page, we knew what the objective was, and that match was special. Roman and Drew are very special talents, two of the best at what they do.”

Undertaker, of course, recently made headlines when he said the current WWE product was “a little soft” for his liking. The Deadman looks set for a role in NXT this year.
