The Undertaker is backstage at SummerSlam 2022. He couldn’t, could he?
With SummerSlam 2022 finally set to get underway a number of huge name’s from WWE’s past and present are reportedly backstage.
As reported by PWInsider, the list of greats at the event includes The Undertaker, Edge, Beth Phoenix and Sharmell.
Edge and Beth Phoenix are probably the most interesting names on the list, after it was reported that the pair were originally scheduled return to television on a recent edition of Monday Night Raw.
The episode from Madison Square Garden was set to be the big return for the pair, but according to PWInsider plans were changed after Vince McMahon announced his retirement.
“In our Elite section, we reported that Edge and Beth Phoenix were both slated for MSG but then later reported plans changed shortly after the Vince McMahon exit. The original plans had them also slated for Summerslam weekend, but there’s no word whether that is still happening or they are holding their return off for a later date.”
Edge was written off WWE programming on the Raw after Hell In A Cell, as he was replaced in The Judgement Day by Balor. Edge had originally formed the group following WrestleMania 38 alongside Priest and Rhea Ripley.
Beth Phoenix, meanwhile, hasn’t competed since the Royal Rumble, teaming with her husband to defeat The Miz and Maryse. She’d previously been a full-time member of the announce team until she left the position last December.
The Undertaker hasn’t appeared on WWE television since the weekend of WrestleMania 38 where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Despite fan speculation, he has repeatedly insisted that he will not be returning to the ring.
