The Rock has been awarded millions [and millions!] of dollars of stock following his return to the ring at WrestleMania 40.
More than a decade on from his last major wrestling match, the Hollywood star competed inside the squared circle once again as he teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in the main event of night one. As a result of the victory, the main event of night 2 was contested under Bloodline Rules, which received heavy praise for being a chaotic affair with multiple guest appearances.
The match was also The Rock’s first since he joined the TKO Board of Directors, which has also been referenced in storylines leading up to WrestleMania. Shortly after the former World Champion joined the board, it was revealed in company filings that he was set to receive $30 million in stock. According to new documents, Rock has once again received a multi-million dollar payout following the events that took place in Philadelphia.
As reported in the latest SEC filing from TKO Holdings, Rock has been awarded 96,558 shares of Class A common stock, which is described as “restricted stock units that vested upon completion of certain services described in that Independent Contractor Services and Merchandising Agreement” in the filing. The completion of certain services was the return to the ring at WrestleMania.
As reported by Brandon Thurston, based on the current share price the shares awarded to The Rock are currently valued at $9.41 million. Previous documentation published on January 23rd lists the 96,558 restricted shares, meaning that this $9.41 million is a part of his $30 million in stock that was agreed upon joining the board.
When Will The Rock Return To WWE?
Making one final appearance on the WWE Raw after WrestleMania, The Final Boss stood face-to-face with Cody Rhodes one more time before announcing that he would be taking some time away, which will be to film multiple movie projects. Although there is no concrete return date for The Great One, a massive match has been planned for The Rock at WrestleMania 41.
