The Two AEW Stars Kurt Angle Believes Are The Best Of The Current Era

Kurt Angle has high praise for 2 wrestlers currently signed to AEW.

Wrestling from 1999 to 2018 in WWE and TNA, the Olympic Gold Medalist was viewed as one of the greatest in-ring stars of his generation and remains in the conversation for one of the best wrestlers of all time. With a mix of speed, power and technical abilities, there was a high chance that Angle’s match would be the match of the night. While many stars of today credit Angle as one of their influences, who does Angle think is at the top of the division today?

Speaking with Wrestling Life Online, Angle named Kenny Omega and Bryan Danielson as 2 stars who he thinks are the best wrestlers today:

“The one guy that’s turning my head right now, and he continues to do it, is Kenny Omega. Him and Bryan Danielson, those two, I really think they’re the best today.”

During a recent Twitch stream, Kenny Omega stated that Angle was the greatest of all time. Angle thanked the former World Champion for his comments and added that he wished he could have faced Omega in a match:

“I’m very grateful that Kenny Omega actually said that I was the greatest of all time and that when he needs to watch film of wrestlers, I’m the one he watches. It was like, ‘Wow,’ I feel the same way about him, you know, it’s a mutual respect, but I think both of us feel that would have had a five-star match if we were to wrestle.”

Kurt Angle Recalls Nightmare Match

Although it was really rare for the Hall of Famer to have a bad match, there were some that the former World Champion was not proud of. During an episode of his podcast, Kurt Angle recalled a match where he injured his opponent and described it as “a nightmare of a match.”

In a recent Q and A, Kurt Angle gave his thoughts on Chad Gable’s recent heel turn.
