Cody Rhodes has named a somewhat surprising pick for the next name in WWE to get their moment in the spotlight.
More than just a catchphrase, Rhodes cemented his legacy at WrestleMania 40 by defeating Roman Reigns and becoming the new Undisputed Champion. Achieving a lifelong goal, The American Nightmare has inspired others who have been waiting for a long time to achieve that accolade, such as Jey Uso’s recent Intercontinental Championship victory on Raw, his first singles title win despite being on the roster for 14 years.
While other names spring to mind to get their defining moment such as Sami Zayn, Chad Gable or Xavier Woods, Rhodes has a different name in mind.
While appearing on Good Karma Wrestling, Rhodes looked at the Dominik Mysterio story and how he expects to see the former North American Champion presented in a completely different way in the future:
“This guy was involved in a match for his own custody as a child and is now this wonderfully great contributor to WWE, whether they’re booing him out of the building or not, we like that. That’s an awesome thing to see. Him and Liv have had an incredible story. Dom is somebody that, if I’m looking at a story I want to watch and I can tune in to WWE in 15 years, I expect to see him in a completely different light. Nothing like we have now, a completely different light and a full evolution of his character.”
Cody Rhodes Hits Another Milestone
While the fans were firmly behind Rhodes in the lead-up to WrestleMania, the Undisputed Champion’s popularity has only increased following the victory and The American Nightmare has firmly made his case as the face of the company. While support in the arenas is one thing, the numbers don’t lie for Cody Rhodes as he has hit an impressive milestone ahead of his match at Bad Blood.
Also in the interview, Cody Rhodes compared his story to a major TV show.
