The Surprising Spot During AEW Match That Left Kenny Omega Scarred

Kenny Omega has admitted that a unique spot in an AEW match has left him scarred for life.

Having competed in many physical matches in the promotion, Omega has been inside steel cages, thrown through tables and hit with a variety of objects wrapped in barbed wire. However, one item that is rarely used in wrestling matches left its mark when it made contact with the former World Champion.

Omega appeared on GameSpot’s YouTube channel to discuss the moves and weapons used in the Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth video game. Omega has previously promoted the series by taking part in a Street Fight on AEW Dynamite, where he teamed with Chris Jericho, Kota Ibushi and Paul Wight to take on The Don Callis Family.

Amongst the chaos that spilt all over the arena, many remember Ibushi utilising the bicycle to take down multiple members of the Family before being taken out by Brian Cage. The bicycle would come into play later as Konosuke Takeshita utilised the object to strike Omega.

Reacting to the fight scenes in the game, Omega discussed the use of the bike and noted that he was scarred from the spot:

I’ve been hit with a lot of stuff over my career, especially this past year. In fact, some Like A Dragon inspired weapons. I was involved in the Like A Dragon Gaiden Street Fight. As much as a kendo stick might hurt or some barbed wire, thumbtacks… Being hit with a bicycle full blast, we are talking 360 discus throw bicycle shot. There has never been anything quite like it. I don’t know if you can see it but I have a scar from the wheel hitting me. That’s not going away, that’s what a bike does to you!

Omega continued, noting that some were not impressed with what they saw in the sponsored match. In response to this, Omega noted that the bicycle shot hurt and understands why it does so much damage in the video game:

“There were comments. This is silly, why would someone use a bike in a fight? How could that hurt? I couldn’t believe that people would actually think that! You are getting hit with a real life bicycle. I get it, I’ve been there, still living it to this day. I don’t think there are too many fights in the world that have ended this way. The dude had the bike in the ring and it’s like oh man. I know this is a show. All right I’ll get hit with a f*cking bike.

I go in the ring and I am getting walloped by this bike. I’m like yeah, you guys made the right decision but someone had to do it. Does that mean I’ll never do it again? No. Let me do promotional work again, I love doing matches like that. When those weapons do more damage than normal attacks [in the game] there’s a reason for it. It’s not fun. It’s unpleasant.”

Kenny Omega recently announced another gaming collaboration, hosting the launch stream for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

When Will Kenny Omega Return To AEW?

Back in December 2023, Omega gave the unfortunate update on social media that he would be out of action indefinitely as he was battling diverticulitis. When asked about Kenny Omega’s road to recovery, Tony Khan gave a positive update.

In other AEW news, a recent storyline was not well received.
