AEW has been using a unique method when considering making changes.
Throughout the course of history, promotions have examined the numbers when it comes to gauging success and if changes need to be made. This was seen multiple times in the past with WWE where a special episode of Raw would air filled with stars from the past to counteract struggling ratings on the Monday night show. Although ratings, live attendance and merchandise sales are all good indicators of success, All Elite Wrestling is reportedly using fan comments as their own barometer.
As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW has been making changes based on those who have voiced their opinions on social media instead of looking at the numbers:
The one thing, and whether this is a positive or a negative, is that AEW has become more and more reactionary to social media critics, as opposed to reactionary to examining actual data.
AEW Reportedly Booking Shows Last Minute
5 years on from its debut pay-per-view the promotion is vastly different to what it was in the early days in a number of ways. Along with a number of top stars exiting the promotion for the competition and ratings being significantly reduced, Tony Khan’s booking methods have also changed. According to a recent report, Tony Khan has been booking AEW in a similar method to 2019 WWE with scripts being rewritten at the last minute and talent left in the dark about what they are doing on the show until the last minute.
