WWE SummerSlam 2025 presents the perfect opportunity for Chief Content Officer Triple H to deliver an all-time classic PLE. Here, we take a look at what The Game can do to make it the most talked-about event of the summer.
Before we continue, we would like to inform you that this is an opinion piece.
This year’s SummerSlam takes place at the MetLife Stadium on August 2 and 3, marking the first time in the PLE’s illustrious history that it will span across two nights.
Given the magnitude of the event, combined with what seems to be the most stacked roster the Stamford-based company has ever had, it could be the best opportunity for Triple H to flex his creative muscles and make it a memorable one.
What Could Triple H’s Playbook be for SummerSlam?
Triple H has had hits and misses when it comes to bookings, with some fans even saying that he was just building up on storylines that had already existed before he took charge.
While this statement is partly true, Triple H has retconned the majority of the storylines and has injected new blood into the roster. Taking those factors into consideration, let us see the potential bookings Triple H could make across the two nights.
Night 1
Damian Priest vs Aleister Black
Damian Priest and the recently returned Aleister Black have been at each other’s throats in the lead-up to the PLE.
Black has had his issues with R-Truth, and The Archer of Infamy tried playing peacemaker, unsuccessfully. This, in turn, drew the ire of the unpredictable former AEW star, who hadn’t been able to settle his scores with Truth, who’d also handed him his first pinfall loss since the former’s return to the Stamford-based promotion.
Aleister Black means business and will likely put Truth on the shelf once he gets his hands on the 53-year-old. Such an event could be the reason his well-wisher, Priest, demands a No Disqualification Match with the 40-year-old star for the upcoming PLE.
At SummerSlam, just when Priest has Black positioned for the Razor’s Edge during the bout, the lights go out, with a dark hooded figure appearing in the ring only to low blow the 42-year-old. Black could then pin him to get the victory. The hooded figure then unmasks and reveals herself to be Zelina Vega, much to the shock of the crowd.
Vega had already planted the seeds for a heel turn after losing her Women’s United States Title, and this would give it more meaning and a chance for the real-life couple to pair up with each other on the blue brand.

Lyra Valkyria vs Becky Lynch – Women’s Intercontinental Title match
While most of the WWE Universe is predicting a redemption arc for Lyra Valkyria at The Biggest Party of the Summer, Triple H should pull a swerve. He could let Becky Lynch lean into her “Becky Hogan” stereotype to retain the fledgling Women’s Intercontinental Title.
Triple H could even let Lynch retain the title by a disqualification. Why? Because losing the title “just won’t work for her brother.”
An even bigger swerve could be in the works, with Bayley turning heel and two of the erstwhile Four Horsewomen reuniting, to make Valkyria’s win an impossibility at SummerSlam.
Meanwhile, The Role Model and The Man can also ally with a few more stars along the way to build up to Survivor Series: War Games later this year.
Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss vs The Judgment Day – Women’s Tag Team Championship match
Although uneasy allies at first, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss’ newly formed partnership has been a huge hit with the WWE Universe. Both stars have warmed up to each other as partners and will now challenge The Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perex for the Women’s Tag Team Championship at the PLE.
During the bout, Dominik Mysterio could try to interfere but get taken out. Towards the end of the match, a spot could occur where Perez falls into Dirty Dom’s arms, and they both just stare at each other, with the crowd going wild. Bliss could then take them out, while Flair hits her Moonsault on Rodriguez to pick up the big win.
The win will inject new life into the titles, which have been a bit stale since Liv Morgan’s injury, and also set her up for a vengeful return, much to the delight of Finn Balor.
Naomi vs Rhea Ripley vs IYO SKY – Women’s World Championship match
IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley could try to be on the same page initially and fight their common enemy. However, they won’t be able to keep that up throughout the bout owing to their massive personal ambitions. Naomi could use this against them to pin either popular babyface for a sneaky win.
Naomi’s reign has just begun, and with her heel turn being popular with the WWE Universe, it might bode well for her to hang onto the title. Besides seeing the same faces with the gold could get boring for the fans, and so both Ripley and SKY could take a break from having a title around their waists for some time.
This will also help the babyfaces detach from the scene a bit while allowing Naomi’s character to develop further.
Gunther vs CM Punk – World Heavyweight Championship match
This one will be a slog fest, with Punk trying to overcome every disadvantage while fighting his younger adversary. The eventual Seth Rollins cash-in could occur with him making it a Triple Threat Match and getting his faction to help him out.
However, Gunther can put up a good fight, and he and Punk could even be on the same page in fending off Rollins & Co. And who knows, maybe even Roman Reigns and Jey Uso come out for the save to blow the roof off the arena. But, it could all come crashing down when Paul Heyman makes a call to introduce the fourth member of the group, a returning Brock Lesnar.
The Beast Incarnate could annihilate everyone in the way, helping Seth Rollins win, with Heyman twisting the knife further in both Reigns and Punk’s backs yet again.
Night 2
Randy Orton and Jelly Roll vs Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul
Randy Orton and Jelly Roll get in a fun match and pick up a victory over the heels Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. However, a post-match beatdown could occur, just as it did at the recently concluded Saturday Night’s Main Event.
That’s when the arena hears, “Say His Name And He Appears!” Yes, Joe Hendry could come out for the save.
This would be a great way to welcome him to the main roster and set him up on a collision course with either fellow Scot McIntyre or even Paul.
Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed
Roman Reigns returned on the latest edition of RAW just before the show closed to a massive ovation from the crowd already clamoring for his comeback. He took out Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed to assist Jey Uso and CM Punk, who were on the verge of being taken out by the heels.
Now, although the Triple H-led promotion has not announced this bout yet, everyone expects it to happen, especially after Reigns showed solidarity with Main Event Jey last week and helped him up to his feet, while ignoring Punk’s outstretched hand.
A brutal Tag Team Match could take place on Night 2 of The Biggest Party of the Summer. This battle, also made more difficult by the punishment all four stars took on Night 1 during the World Heavyweight Championship bout. However, that could be the least of the worries for the OG Bloodline members, with a wild Brock Lesnar appearing yet again to ensure that the heel faction stands tall.
This would position Rollins’ faction as near unbeatable. The babyfaces would have to team up Avengers-style to take down this threat at Survivor Series: War Game, where they could include names like LA Knight, Sami Zayn, or maybe even some other surprising stars being added to their team, courtesy of Triple H and his creative team.
Tiffany Stratton vs Jade Cargill – WWE Women’s Championship match
The competitive match could get marred by Naomi’s sudden interruption. The Glow and Cargill have been at loggerheads since Elimination Chamber earlier this year when The Storm returned to all but reveal that it was the 37-year-old who took her out in the parking lot last November to put her on the shelf for months.
However, that is not what costs Cargill the match. It could be Bianca Belair who finally turns heel and allies with Naomi once again.
Her reason could be simple. She realised that Naomi was right all along. Despite Belair not having put a foot wrong with regard to Cargill, The Storm was strangely cold towards her ever since she returned earlier this year. She also never acknowledged her friendship with Belair, despite The EST breaking off her partnership with The Glow for what the latter had done to Big Jade.
This made her realise that she had to truly tap into her inner demons if she wanted to succeed and win another World Title, just as the reigning Women’s World Champion had done. Their plan is simple: Naomi and Belair both dominate each brand.
Solo Sikoa vs Jacob Fatu – WWE United States Championship Steel Cage Match
On this week’s episode of SmackDown, with Adam Pearce filling in for Nick Aldis, he ensured that Solo Sikoa gets the punishment that is due by putting him in a Steel Cage Match against Jacob Fatu to defend the United States Championship at SummerSlam.
While the MFT could eventually break through the steel cage and attack The Samoan Werewolf, Jimmy Uso could come in for the save. However, in yet another swerve by the Triple H-led creative team, the newest member of the MFT appears, Rikishi Fatu.
With the babyfaces shocked, and Rikishi instructing the heel faction to attack Fatu and Big Jim, he could oversee a Solo Sikoa victory. This sits right in with Vince Russo’s suggestion of having the Hall of Famer lead the stable.
John Cena vs Cody Rhodes – Undisputed WWE Championship match
On this week’s edition of SmackDown, the Triple H-led creative team teased a double turn for Cody Rhodes and John Cena. Despite neither star really making the turns, they were heavily teased with The Franchise Player showing glimpses of his babyface days and The American Nightmare displaying his newfound ruthless side.
After beating down an “emotionally and mentally exhausted” Cena and forcing his way into a Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship, Rhodes has planted doubts in the minds of fans that he may be turning heel at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
While this seems like a good time for a double turn, Triple H could let it play out a bit longer and let The American Nightmare and The Last Real Champion go to war in an epic battle. Rhodes could get frustrated with Cena’s resilience, but just as he is about to get the pinfall, he could be interrupted by The Rock himself, making a blockbuster return.
The Final Boss could destroy an exhausted Rhodes to the point that we could see Cena rethinking his decision to ally with The Rock in the first place. This can play into a slow burn angle where, with every encounter, The American Nightmare loses it till he succumbs to his dark side with the eventual showdown and turn coming in The Franchise Player’s final match of his Farewell Tour.
Conclusion
SummerSlam’s new two-night format will help Triple H create more storylines for stars such as Rhea Ripley and breathe new life into talents such as Zelina Vega. Also, introducing Joe Hendry on such a large scale and setting up a main roster feud might be the best way to break the popular star into the fold.
