The Rock’s WWE Return Passes 103 Million Views

The Rock on WWE SmackDown

The Rock remains one of the biggest stars to ever set foot in WWE.

On September 15th, The Rock returned to WWE for the first time since October 2019 when he appeared to celebrate the 20th anniversary of SmackDown. This time, the Great One was introduced by Pat McAfee who was making his own return, and first appearance since WrestleMania 39.

In the show’s opening segment, McAfee had been confronted by Austin Theory and this led to The Rock making his presence felt. The Hollywood megastar dropped in a couple of his trademark catchphrases and revelled in leading the crowd’s hatred of Theory.

After some back and forth, Rock and McAfee stood tall over Theory after a People’s Elbow.

As well as boosting television ratings, WWE has now revealed that the star’s return has been viewed more than 103 million times.

The Rock “Blown Away” By WWE Return

Following the appearance, The Rock said it was one of the loudest crowd reactions he’d ever experienced, thanking fans for their support.

I was – I’m still – completely blown away by this crowd reaction in Denver this past Friday night on SMACKDOWN.

My appearance was a 💯 surprise to everyone and this crowd of 14,000 erupted with the roar of 100,000 strong.

Top 5 loudest crowd reaction of my career 🤯🥹🙏🏾(which I was like “holy shit” when I walked out 🤣)

I’m so grateful and humbled by this. I never take it for granted and “coming home” will always be sacred to me.

Thank you my guy PatMac, the talented Austin Theory, @wwe family backstage, Team Rock behind the scenes – everyone who joined us to go ALL IN.

But most importantly, thank you with all my love, gratitude and respect, to THE PEOPLE.

Our connection is real.

The star’s return on SmackDown came after he’d revealed on The Pat McAfee Show that he almost faced Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
