The Rock’s Latest Failure Reportedly Comes Into Question From Those Within WWE

Original Plans For The Rock's WWE WrestleMania 42 Announcement Revealed

The Rock has always been one of the most talked-about superstars in WWE history. Even after so many years in Hollywood, his aura among wrestling fans seems to be growing more than ever. However, a recent change in the company’s plans has seemingly not sat well with employees within World Wrestling Entertainment.

The Final Boss was a huge part of the build-up to WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. He became a hot topic after demanding Cody Rhodes’ ‘soul’. The Brahma Bull ultimately got John Cena to side with him, with the latter turning heel in the process. However, fans were miffed when The Rock did not show up at WrestleMania 41 during the main event between Cena and Rhodes, where the former became a 17-time world champion. The Final Boss was also the one who appeared on the February 21, 2025, episode of SmackDown to reveal that WrestleMania 42 would emanate from New Orleans next year.

Despite the announcement, WWE is now planning to move WrestleMania away from New Orleans next year and take it back to Las Vegas. Triple H even made an announcement recently that New Orleans would now see Money in the Bank next year and ‘Mania at a later date. It seems that another of Rock’s announcements has gone astray.

Now, PWInsider (via Cultaholic) is reporting that many within WWE were cracking jokes about the Hollywood megastar. The report stated that, “a few people in the company were joking that once again, something connected to Rock went awry.”

This comes after several storylines related to him did not pan out as fans would have wanted.

Several things related to The Rock have not worked out recently

The Rock has made several appearances on WWE programming over the past year or so. While fans strung together many theories regarding The Great One, none of them seem to have come to fruition.

The star first appeared after Bad Blood last year to send a cryptic throat-slashing gesture to Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes following their tag team win over Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. While many thought it would be the start of a rivalry with Reigns or Rhodes or both, he then appeared on the Netflix debut of RAW and cut an interesting promo where he seemed to bury the hatchet with The American Nightmare and hugged him. However, that was widely criticised by fans around the world. The Rock then appeared on an episode of NXT to address his RAW promo.

He then asked Cody Rhodes to give his ‘soul’ to him. After The American Nightmare refused at Elimination Chamber this year, John Cena sided with The Final Boss and took out the then-WWE Champion. However, nothing seemed to come of this storyline, as well, as he never appeared at WrestleMania 41 to justify his actions.

The Brahma Bull has not been seen in the company since. He is yet to reveal the reason behind his and Cena’s actions and whether there were other motives or superstars involved.
