The Rock’s status for WWE SummerSlam seemingly revealed.
The Rock changed the scenery of wrestling when he returned last year in the build-up to WrestleMania XL. After fans refused to see him fight Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship, as many wanted to see Cody Rhodes instead, he turned heel, and The Final Boss character was born.
Dwayne Johnson’s heel character received a lot of praise from fans and led to an interesting and tense Road to ‘Mania. En route to this year’s Elimination Chamber event, he tried to recruit The American Nightmare by his side and become the company champion, but he turned it down during the PLE. However, John Cena took the deal instead.
Cena’s heel turn and alliance with The Final Boss initially received praise, but all went downhill when The Rock no-showed WrestleMania 41 to help John against Cody, with Travis Scott appearing instead. Dwayne Johnson hasn’t been seen since the Toronto premium live event, and it looks like his absence will continue.
The Rock Not Expected To Be At WWE SummerSlam
Cody Rhodes is set to have a rematch against John Cena at SummerSlam for the Undisputed WWE Championship. After what transpired at WrestleMania 41 and The Rock’s involvement in The Cenation Leader turning heel and later becoming a champion, it would make sense to see The Final Boss at The Biggest Party of the Summer, but that won’t be the case.
In a recent report by Bodyslam.Net, internal sources stated that there is no indication that The Rock is scheduled to return in the near future, meaning he will most likely be absent at the upcoming SummerSlam premium live event.
