The Rock will personally induct his grandmother Lia Maivia into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2024.

A recent report from Fightful Select indicated that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson had a significant amount of influence over the new Hall of Fame class, and that he’d pitched his grandmother Lia Maivia as a potential candidate to receive the honor.

The news came after Rock joined the board of TKO back in January and also earned the naming rights to his WWE persona.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Maivia will indeed be inducted, writing:

Paul Levesque’s first handpicked WWE Hall of Fame class has been confirmed as Paul Heyman, Bull Nakano, Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda, Muhammad Ali, Thunderbolt Patterson and Lia Maivia.

Later in the report, Meltzer confirmed that Dwayne Johnson would personally be inducting his grandmother into the Hall of Fame.

Lia Maivia, born Ofelia Fuatage on August 6, 1931, is obviously here for one reason, that she’s the grandmother of Dwayne Johnson. Johnson will do the induction speech.
They had already inducted Peter Maivia, Johnson’s grandfather, and Rocky Johnson, his father, with Johnson inducting both.

Why Did The Rock Return To WWE?

Speaking in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dwayne Johnson opened up about his decision to return to WWE. He states it was for one reason: he loves professional wrestling.

“I love it. I love what I do, I love this world of wrestling, I love pro wrestling, I was born into pro wrestling, I will always be a pro wrestler at heart and in attitude too.”

During another recent interview, Rock gave a surprising choice for the toughest wrestler he ever faced in WWE.
