The Rock & Ronda Rousey Reportedly Part Of WrestleMania 39 Plans

With WrestleMania 38 on the horizon, WWE is reported to already have grand plans for 2023’s Show of Shows involving both Ronda Rousey and The Rock.

‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey shocked the world when she made her surprise return to WWE at the 2022 Royal Rumble. Rousey entered the women’s Rumble at number 28 and eliminated four foes on her way to winning the match and guaranteeing herself her second WrestleMania main event.

Rousey made her in-ring WWE debut at WrestleMania 34 when she teamed with fellow Olympian Kurt Angle to vanquish Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Just one year later Rousey was part of the historic main event at WrestleMania 35 where she lost to Becky Lynch.

The Rock last set foot in a WrestleMania ring in 2016 when he defeated Erick Rowan in an impromptu six-second match after being interrupted by the Wyatt Family. The Great One last laced up his boots properly at the event at WrestleMania 29 where he was defeated by John Cena for the WWE Championship.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer has reported that both Rousey and The Rock are likely main eventers when WrestleMania heads to SoFi Stadium in the spring of 2023. According to Meltzer, two huge matches are in the pipeline with The Rock taking on Roman Reigns and Rousey finally going one on one with Becky Lynch:

“The idea is to lead to the biggest WrestleMania ever in 2023 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA, with Reigns vs. The Rock and Becky Lynch vs. Rousey. Of course a million things may happen between then and now and with Dwayne Johnson’s schedule, it may not be possible.”

“And given things change constantly in WWE, a million things could happen regarding Rousey or Lynch over the next year plus. But Rousey’s current deal with WWE at press time was to be a regular on the Smackdown brand, be a regular part of WWE through at least the 2023 WrestleMania if not longer.”

Ronda Rousey already made her intentions for WrestleMania 38 known on SmackDown when she chose to challenge SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair for her title on The Grandest Stage Of Them All.

The Rock and Ronda Rousey do have some shared WrestleMania together that dates back to the last time the event emanated from California. At WrestleMania 31, The Rock was sent on his way by an angry Stephanie McMahon before recruiting Rousey – who was sat at ringside as a fan – into the ring to deal with McMahon and Triple H.
