Harvey Wippleman was a big part in helping Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson early on in his wrestling career and now ‘The People’s Champion’ has repaid his generosity by gifting him a brand new truck!
When The Rock first moved to the US in Nashville, he went to stay with Wippleman and the two became life-long friends. The Rock specifically recalled the time Wippleman gave him $40 so he “could hustle a crackhead out of his car” for $80, but the two got a shock when they found someone sleeping in the back after they’d bought it!
Now that Christmas has come many years later, ‘The Braham Bull’ decided to surprise his friend and mentor in a video uploaded to his Instagram with a brand new truck – giving back to the man that helped him so much throughout his early career!
“I can’t thank you enough for when I was 15 and you had every right to say “I don’t know this kid, I don’t want him to live with me.” You took me in and, truly Bruno, it means so much to me that you did that because it actually helped change the course of my life and I love you and I appreciate it. I thank you for buying me my first car from that crackhead and now I have an opportunity now to tell you that this is your new car.”
Wippleman was seemingly stunned at The Rock’s kindness, repeatedly exclaiming “oh my god” before welling up with tears as he climbed inside his new vehicle.
Harvey Wippleman began his professional wrestling career working in promotions in the south, especially in Memphis. He debuted for the WWF in the 1990s and managed the likes of Kamala, Sid Justice, Giant Gonzalez and even Bertha Faye, his biggest career highlight coming in 2000 when he became the first and only man to win the WWF Women’s Championship. He still works backstage in the WWE, and occasionally works in the Memphis area as ‘Downtown Bruno’.
