The Rock Reflects On Intense Training Camp For WWE WrestleMania 40 In-Ring Return

The Rock has looked back on his gruelling training schedule to prepare for his in-ring return at WrestleMania 40.

Following the return of The Great One on January 1st, which saw Rock reference The Head of the Table at the end of his segment, fans anticipated that the long-awaited showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns would finally happen. However, following overwhelming support for Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes, WWE elected to pivot and instead have Rock and Reigns team up against Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

At 51 years old and not having competed in a full match since 2013, Rock was very aware of the challenge ahead of him to get ring-ready for a match on The Grandest Stage once more.

Discussing his training with People, Rock spoke about the challenge in getting himself ready for the match, which took over 2 months:

“It’s incredibly hard. The training becomes really extensive, and the training camp becomes extensive. So, I went [to] training camp for WrestleMania, which was about an eight- to nine-week training camp. It’s really fast, and fortunately, I was able to get through it all.”

Rock and Reigns were victorious in the main event of night 1 to set up the Bloodline Rules match on night 2, which saw another appearance from the Hollywood star. Rhodes defeated Reigns in the match.

The Rock Continues To Dominate Hollywood

The former WWE Champion recently made a massive impact in the movie world as Red One and Moana 2 were recently released in cinemas worldwide. Following the release of one of his movies, The Rock recently achieved a major accolade.
