The Rock Reflects On His First-Ever Match

The Rock

Wrestling icon The Rock has looked back on his first-ever match in the squared circle and says he was “thrown headfirst into the fire.”

Dwayne Johnson took to social media to promote the newest episode of his hit TV series Young Rock. The series charts his life from his childhood to his days as one of wrestling’s hottest stars. That journey is about to ramp up somewhat on the show as viewers see The Rock step into the ring for his first match that just so happens to be in front of 15,000 people.

The Rock wrote on Twitter:

“Appreciate everyone’s excitement about tonight’s episode of #YoungRock. The night my life changed. My first ever wrestling match, thrown head first into the fire to 15,000 unmerciful wrestling fans 💀 Tonight’s episode was written by myself, @bfg728 & @hhgarcia41 ENJOY! 8PM @NBC

The episode entitled ‘Corpus Christi’ takes viewers back to March 1996 when Dwayne Johnson wrestled under his birth name at a WWF Superstars taping against the veteran Brooklyn Brawler. Brawler in the episode was played by current AEW and Dark Order star, Colt Cabana.

The Rock wrestled one more match under his birth name in the WWF before going to the USWA to get some matches under his belt where he was known as Flex Kavana. The Rock’s first televised WWF match came just eight months after his first bout in the bear pit of Madison Square Garden at Survivor Series 1996.
