WWE icon and Hollywood megastar The Rock has praised a current SmackDown star for being a “wrestling bad ass” and says they share a connection that goes back generations.
The Rock was replying to a thread on social media where a fan professed their love of The People’s Champ but said these days, they were more partial to The Queen of Spades, Shayna Baszler. The Rock said that he absolutely agreed and added that Baszler’s trainer used to wrestle High Chief Peter Maivia:
“I co-signI love Shayna too!!! She’s a wrestling bad ass and trained by a legit wrestling bad ass OG (Billy R) who used to wrestle with my granddad, the great High Chief Maivia. Life is crazy and so connected”

Shayna Baszler was recently drafted to SmackDown in the 2021 WWE Draft after a long spell on Raw. Baszler represented her new brand in the traditional 5 vs. 5 match at Survivor Series that was won by Team Raw.
Prior to moving to the blue brand Baszler had held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship twice with partner Nia Jax. Before graduating to the main roster of WWE, Shayna Baszler had decimated her competition during her time on NXT.
Baszler first won the title from Ember Moon at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in April 2018 before losing the belt to Kairi Sane that August. At the WWE Evolution pay-per-view in October Baszler reclaimed her crown and held the title for an astonishing 416 days before dropping the title to Rhea Ripley.
