The Rock Names Surprising Star As His Toughest WWE Opponent

The Rock on WWE SmackDown

The Rock has given an unexpected answer to who his toughest opponent was in WWE.

Over the course of his career, Dwayne Johnson has faced a who’s who of wrestlers. These have included rivalries with the likes of The Undertaker, Triple H, and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. However, he has recently revealed the man he thinks was tougher than all the rest.

Taking on the mini mic for ESPN, The Great One named his first opponent, The Brooklyn Brawler, as his toughest. Rock took on the Brawler in his debut match at a WWF Superstars taping back in March 1996. The company clearly already saw something in the future megastar, as he was given the victory in the bout.

The interview also saw The People’s Champ finally disclose what he’s been cooking all these years, jokingly answering with Chilean seabass with pineapple. In his last wrestling-related question, the star reeled off a list of his favourite wrestlers growing up. As well as his father and grandfather, he named legends like Dusty Rhodes and Roddy Piper.

“My dad Rocky Johnson, my grandfather Peter Maivia, Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka, Don Muraco, Roddy Piper, Doctor D David Shultz, The Road Warriors, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Pat Patterson.”

The Rock Reveals Why He Returned To WWE

Johnson made his return to WWE on the January 1st edition of Raw and immediately sent speculation into overdrive when he dropped a hint that he would face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. A spanner has since been thrown into those works as Cody Rhodes has confirmed he will challenge Roman Reigns instead.

The Rock has since revealed the reason he came back, and rather than being specifically to face his cousin, he says it was simply because he loves pro wrestling and will always be a wrestler at heart.
