The Rock does not want to wait until WrestleMania.
On the March 15th episode of SmackDown, The People’s Champion brought back the popular Rock Concert segment to entertain the fans in Memphis, Tennessee with some light-hearted jabs at Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins and the Cody Crybabies. However, what started out humorous quickly turned dark as Rock declared that he would hand Rhodes’ mother a belt covered in the blood of The American Nightmare. Ten days later, Rock made good on his promise.
The March 25th Raw opened with Cody Rhodes discussing his upcoming clash with Roman Reigns and took shots at The Tribal Chief’s part-time schedule. In a move that no one saw coming, Rhodes was interrupted by the Hollywood star, who was not advertised to appear. Unlike previous Rock appearances, this one was more low-key as The People’s Champion simply whispered something in Rhodes’ ear and then walked away. While the segment was over, Rock would return.
In the final segment of the night, Rhodes was seen in a backstage brawl with The Bloodline when The Rock blindsided him. The fight made its way to the outside of The Allstate Arena with a bloody Rhodes laid out on the floor. Rock continued the beatdown that was filled with expletives and a clear shift from the usual PG presentation seen on regular weekly programming.
To add insult to injury, Rock pulled out a weight belt with “Mama Rhodes” printed on it and proceeded to smear the blood of his WrestleMania opponent all over it. Ending the segment, Rock stated that Rhodes would find out what “Hard times” really meant and made one final address to Rhodes’ mother as the show went off the air.
At WrestleMania 40, Rock will team with Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The result of the match will determine whether or not The Bloodline will be allowed to be at ringside for Rhodes’ rematch with Reigns on night 2.
The Rock Hits Back At Recent Report
With the use of curse words, blood and non-PG insults, The Rock’s appearances on Raw and SmackDown have been anything but family-friendly. With the Hollywood megastar being granted more leeway with the nature of his promos compared to other Superstars, a report was published that stated others in the locker room are unhappy with this and there is a double standard within the company. However, The Rock would deny this to be real and branded the report as “horsesh*t.”
