The Rock Makes Bold WrestleMania 40 Prediction; Latest On Potential Roman Reigns Match

The Rock Dwayne Johnson Roman Reigns 2015 Royal Rumble

The Rock wants the world to be watching if he faces Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

Back in September, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson teased that he was open to appear at WrestleMania 40 during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show prior to making a shock return to SmackDown later that night.

Fast forward to January 1st, and Rock once again shocked WWE fans by making a surprise appearance, this time on Monday Night Raw. After a confrontation with Jinder Mahal, Rock asked fans if he should “sit at the head of the table,” a clear sign that he and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns could at last be headed for a dream match.

Speaking in a new interview with ESPN First Take, The Great One made the bold claim that if the bout between himself and Reigns does come to pass, it will be the biggest WrestleMania of all time.

“If myself and Roman Reigns were to main event WrestleMania, and I mean this very respectfully of all the WrestleMania’s prior, because I grew up in this business and I love it, we could possibly put on, with us as the main event and this incredible group of men and women who are these incredible performers, we could possibly put on the greatest and the biggest WrestleMania of all time.

“There’s a chance… I love this business, I love pro wrestling, I love WWE. I also have a deep passion to grow it and to build it. And if we’re going to do something like this, I want the world to watch.” (h/t WrestlingNews.co)

Will The Rock Face Roman Reigns At WrestleMania 40?

In a preview of the upcoming Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that despite the many teases, Rock vs. Reigns is not yet locked in for The Grandest Stage of Them All. Metlzer wrote:

“According to WWE sources, Johnson has not officially signed a deal to wrestle for the company but the key word said about that is ‘yet.’ It is known that he is willing and said to be wanting to do a match with Roman Reigns and is strong on doing it at WrestleMania, but that is not locked in.

“It was suggested to us the idea of seeing how much Saudi Arabia would pay extra to get a Dwayne Johnson match given the crazy numbers they’ve paid for boxing matches, although it was noted that Johnson himself sees WrestleMania a this point as what he is most interested in. But those seem to be the two leading possibilities.”

It was also revealed today that The Rock has joined the TKO Board of Directors and will receive a massive bonus as a result.

In regards to Roman Reigns, a top WWE star has defended The Tribal Chief over a major fan criticism.
