The Rock Issued Challenge By Former WWE Champion

Not everyone was impressed by The Rock’s recent WWE appearance.

The fans in San Diego erupted as The Rock made a shock return to WWE on January 1st, understandably excited to see The Great One live for a rare appearance. One person who was not happy that the Hollywood star made his presence felt was Jinder Mahal, who was interrupted by the electrifying music.

Prior to the future Hall of Famer making his entrance, Mahal was first introduced as the former World Champion, much to the dismay of the fans as some believed that this was the payoff and punchline to Triple H’s social media post. Mahal, who felt disrespected by the fans, cut an anti-American promo before being cut off.

Speaking with Sony Sports Network, Mahal believes that he had the upper hand at one point and is happy with his recent performance:

“I had many good points before Rock even came out. I was feeling confident until I was on the receiving end of, you know, Rock gave me a spinebuster. Up until then, I really believed that I had The Rock. You know, I had his confidence choked. I could see the look in his eyes. I am the Modern Day Maharaja, he may be The People’s Champion, they were cheering him on. For someone who had no respect from the crowd, I think I did really well.”

Continuing the interview, Mahal declared that he wants to face The Great One in India, officially challenging the Hollywood Megastar to go one-on-one with The Modern Day Maharaja:

“I want to issue a challenge to The Rock. Anytime in India, you can step into the ring with The Modern Day Maharaja.”

At the time of writing, Rock has not issued a response to the epic challenge.

WWE Touts Success Of Appearance From The Rock

Unsurprisingly, an appearance by The People’s Champion proved to be very popular across the promotion’s social media platforms. Smashing his previous record of 103 million, more than 171 million people have since witnessed the New Year’s Day appearance from the former World Champion. Eternally grateful to the fans, The Rock was overwhelmed by the record-breaking achievement.
