Bron Breakker has won plenty of plaudits since debuting on NXT 2.0 but now with gold to his name, the star clearly has a fan in The People’s Champ himself, The Rock.
The second generation star defeated Tommaso Ciampa at NXT New Year’s Evil to capture his first NXT Championship.
Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa are certainly no strangers to each other, with the second generation NXT staring down the NXT Champion during his first appearance on NXT television in September. Breakker would unsuccessfully challenge for the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc but was successful in pinning Ciampa to gain the win for Team 2.0 at NXT 2.0 WarGames on December 5th.
The tension between the two came to a fever pitch when Ciampa attacked Breakker, leading to the two agreeing to face off for the NXT Championship once more at New Year’s Evil.
In a closely fought contest, Breakker withstood Ciampa’s Fairytale Ending before using all his family knowledge to lock in the Steiner Recliner and force the champion to tap out.
Afterwards, Breakker was joined in the ring by his father and former WWE Tag Team Champion Rick Steiner in a touching moment that was met with howls of approval from those inside the Capitol Wrestling Center.
One man clearly impressed with the work of Bron Breakker is WWE icon and Hollywood idol, The Rock. The Great One took to social media to share his concise thoughts on Breakker and the post-match celebration:
“Very f*cking cool”
