The Rock And Roman Reigns Win Monumental WrestleMania 40 Main Event

The Rock and Roman Reigns stood tall at WrestleMania 40, setting up a near-impossible obstacle for Cody Rhodes to overcome on night 2.

In the main event of WrestleMania night one, Rock and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins. As a result of the victory, Reigns and Rhodes’s WrestleMania rematch will be contested under Bloodline rules, meaning that anything goes and anyone is allowed to interfere. With Rock and Reigns giving Rhodes a taste of what to expect on the April 1st episode of Raw, the deck has been firmly stacked against The American Nightmare.

The action started off with a lengthy feeling out process before Rhodes and Rollins took the fight to the Bloodline. The action spilt to the outside with Rock telling the referee that if he counted them out he would be fired, essentially turning it into a No DQ match in favour of the Bloodline.

Back in the ring, the cousins took control of the match by singling out Rollins and dismantling his knee. The babyfaces managed to fire back and seemed to have the match won when Rhodes hit his finisher on Reigns, but just as the referee was to count The Final Boss pulled him out of the ring saving the match.

Further blatant rule breaking followed before Reigns accidentally hit The Great One with a spear that set up a stereo pedigree spot and a breathtaking near fall. From there a wild series of events saw weight belts, Rock Bottoms and the People’s Elbow for a hard fought Bloodline victory.

The WrestleMania 40 match was The Great One’s first outing in the squared circle since 2016, which saw the Hollywood star defeat Erick Rowan in 6 seconds, the shortest match in Mani history. Prior to this, Rock’s last major match took place all the way back in 2013 as he and John Cena had their rematch from the year prior, which saw Cena stand tall and walk out with the WWE Championship.

At the press conference following the show, Roman Reigns clarified his health status after Pat McAfee mentioned The Tribal Chief was still battling leukemia.

The Rock Looks To End The Cody Rhodes Story Once And For All

Ever since the Hollywood star made his return to the company on New Year’s Day he has made it clear that his end goal was a match with Roman Reigns to create the biggest main event in WrestleMania history. Although many were excited when the match was first teased, fan discourse began when Cody Rhodes appeared to relinquish his match with Reigns despite being victorious at the Royal Rumble, putting a massive roadblock in finishing the story.

With a week of fan discourse and outrage online, Rhodes eventually chose Reigns as his Mania opponent and made The Bloodline irate at their fans being interrupted. Beginning with The Rock responding to Rhodes with “F*ck your story”, Rock launched a series of verbal attacks on Rhodes over the subsequent weeks that also included a bloody beatdown.

A new report has since come to light about The Rock’s WrestleMania appearance, which WWE has denied.
