The Rock Addresses WWE Status Post-WrestleMania

The Rock has confirmed that he will be with WWE long-term.

Following on from his surprise visit on New Year’s Day and being announced as a member of the TKO Board of Directors, the Hollywood star was more involved with the company than he had been for a number of years. Appearing on Wall Street and sharing numerous clips about WWE’s recent successes, this was more than a one-and-done for The Great One.

Rock would provide a follow-up visit shortly after the Royal Rumble, inserting himself in the Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes storyline and making it very apparent that he would be factoring into Mania plans in Philadelphia. With numerous appearances on Raw and SmackDown and numerous media appearances, Rock was doing all he could to promote the Philadelphia supershow.

Although Rock has been a huge part of the Mania storyline and promoting the event in general, fans are aware that this is not the only venture The Great One is involved in. With numerous businesses and his own movie career, it is not known when or if Rock will be back inside the ring for another match.

While being interviewed by ESPN about the upcoming match, Rock addressed his status with the company and confirmed that he will still be around for a long time:

“I’m not off the board after WrestleMania,” Rock said. “I’m still on the board, and I will always be a part of this. And we are in it now. This is our thing and will forever be our thing.”

Rock also praised company President and long-time friend Nick Khan for what he has done for WWE:

“Nick’s an excellent leader, astute businessman and sharp dealmaker,” Johnson said, “because he’s an innovative collaborator, big-picture thinker, and has the capacity to recognize epic, disruptive opportunities for brand-building.”

Brian Gewirtz, who has worked closely with Rock for a number of years on media projects, agreed that Rock will be back in the near future and this won’t all come to an end at WrestleMania:

“But I do think there’s gonna be a Rock presence in WWE going forward until whenever he doesn’t want to. I could definitely say that this isn’t [over a] day after WrestleMania and I’m gonna go off into the sunset now.”

While Rock looks set to return, the Hollywood star is set to start filming for The Smashing Machine, which will portray the life of UFC star Mark Kerr.
