It is the end of an era. On last night’s Friday Night SmackDown, The New Day competed in their final match together as trio and afterwards shared a tearful goodbye.
In their final bout as a team, Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods defeated Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and Sheamus in what was dubbed their farewell outing before the threesome head their separate ways.
Following the bout, the three friends gathered in the middle of the ring for one last moment together before giving their final interview as a team to Alyse Ashton backstage.
In the interview which can be seen below, the three men struggled to keep their emotions in check as they recounted their history making past before thanking each other.
What the future holds for the three men is unclear. WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston are now sole property of the red brand, whilst there is major talk of Big E receiving a singles push which will finally see him placed in the main event and possibly WWE Universal Championship picture.
For 6 years, The New Day has been a staple of WWE programming. They set the record for Tag Team Championship reigns, went from heels to the most beloved babyfaces and even made history when Kofi Kingston became the first African American WWE Champion at WrestleMania 35 in one of the most memorable WrestleMania moments in history.
