The New Day have commented on their Brodie Lee inspired ring gear they wore at the Royal Rumble on the latest ‘WWE The Day Of.’

Filmed on the day of Royal Rumble 2021, the documentary looks behind the scenes at the WWE Superstar’s preparations for the event. The New Day caught everyone’s eye with their special ring gear for the event which featured pictures and memories of their friend, the late Brodie Lee.

Big E explained why they had the special gear made:

“This is honouring someone who meant a lot to us.Love Brodie. We’ll always love Brodie. We’ll never forget him and always do our best to honour him in one way or another. So it’s not like a one week, two-week thing, no.That’s family, that’s my brother so it’s just doing something to honour him and we hope we do him justice, we hope we do his memory justice, so that’s all we wanna do.”

Explaining the gear to Ruby Riott, Xavier Woods says that they wanted to showcase meaningful moments from their friendship and career with Lee.Woods’ shin immortalised the time that Lee power bombed him on the steel ringside steps.Woods’ also noted what the other members of the New Day had on their gear to commemorate their friend:

“Kofi’s got him just with his arms outstretched and E’s got like a portrait of him.”

When asked what it meant to him to honour Brodie in this way, an emotional Woods could only say:

“I miss my friend.”

The wrestling world was shocked in December 2020 when Brodie Lee’s death was announced.Stories and memories from Lee’s friends and colleagues offered an insight into how beloved Lee was.AEW ran a ‘Brodie Lee Celebration of Life’ episode which featured members of Lee’s Dark Order in every match.

The New Day is auctioning off their special Brodie Lee ring gear to raise funds for FoodlinkNY. A charity based in Lee’s hometown of Rochester, New York.Kofi Kingston and Xavier Wood’s entrance jackets have already been sold with over $5000 being raised so far.The latest bidding on Big E’s ring jacket can be found here.
