The Miz has become a two-time holder of the Money In The Bank Contract after defeating Otis for the briefcase at WWE Hell In A Cell.
The match for the contract was made following this past episode of SmackDown when Otis defended the contract in court during ‘Law & Otis’. Despite witness accounts from Rey Mysterio, Asuka and Tucker, the judge JBL ruled in favour of The Miz after being bribed – forcing Otis to defend the contract at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.
After John Morrison was ejected from ringside after attempting to attack Otis behind the referee’s back, Otis looked like he was about to pick up the win before his former Heavy Machinery partner Tucker betrayed him – hitting him with the Money In The Bank briefcase and allowing Miz to earn the contract.
The Miz is no stranger to Money In The Bank, having won and successfully cashed in just shy of a decade ago, defeating Randy Orton for the WWE Championship in November 2010. Otis, meanwhile, is only the second Money In The Bank winner in history to lose their contract without cashing in – the other being Mr. Kennedy.
After suffering an injury, Kennedy lost his contract to Edge on the May 7th 2007 episode of RAW. Edge would go on to cash-in the contract on the Undertaker the next day on SmackDown to win the World Heavyweight Championship for the very first time whilst Kennedy would slowly dip down the card before being released in 2009.
Elsewhere on the show, Randy Orton dethroned Drew McIntyre to become a record setting 14-time world champion in WWE whilst Sasha Banks ended Bayley’s historic SmackDown Women’s Championship reign after a match of the year contender inside Hell In A Cell.
