WWE Superstar The Miz was almost an unlikely hero at the 2023 NBA All Star Game that took place in Utah this past Friday night
The Miz nails half court shot to stun the crowd
The NBA All Star Game is a prestigious date each year on the basketball calendar and has attracted some huge global names to participate since it’s inception in 2005. Former MVP’s of the game include a number of global entertainment giants such as Nelly, Justin Bieber and Kevin Hart.
The former WWE Champion, who was not in action at the WWE Elimination Chamber event on Saturday, was selected recently to feature on ‘Team Ryan’, coached by Utah Jazz president Ryan Smith alongside teammates such as Calvin Johnson, Marcos Mion, Sinqua Walls, Kane Brown, Diamond DeShields and Everett Osborne.
They were up against Team Dwayne, led by Utah Jazz minority owner Dwayne Wade, in a team boasting the likes of DK Metcalf, Ranveer Singh, Hasan Minhaj, Nicky Jam and Alex Toussaint.
It was eventual MVP winner Metcalf, a former Seattle Seahawks NFL wide receiver, who stood with his mouth wide open in shock as the WWE Superstar launched a successful shot from the half way line, which flew into the net and seemingly secured victory for his team.
Officials, however, quickly stepped in and adjudged that the Ohio-born star had released his effort after the buzzer had sounded. That left the score at 81-78 and ensured heartbreak for The Miz’s team, who would have scored four points had his effort counted, therefor taking the win.
Still, his outrageous attempt has secured WWE even more mainstream focus ahead of Wrestlemania in Los Angeles on 1st and 2nd April, and has no doubt given ‘The Most Must See Superstar in WWE history’ plenty to talk about on the next edition of his WWE talk show ‘Miz TV’.
