The Miz Opens Up About Being Banned From The WWE Locker Room

The Miz has opened up about being banished from the WWE locker room and how he felt about having to change in the same bathrooms the public used at shows.

Speaking on his WWE 24 special, The 2-time WWE Champion discussed how he feels he struggles to make a good first impression. Miz noted that he can turn people off him before they even get to know him.

Miz explained:

“I don’t make a very good first impression normally. I am sometimes loud, no filter, kind of say what’s on my mind. You know, some people like that, some people don’t. I was rubbing people the wrong way, people just saw me a certain way, and that was a loud, obnoxious, egotistical, arrogant reality star. I didn’t belong.”

Miz’s unpopularity in the WWE locker room came to a head when he was banned from entering it. The situation arose due to The Miz dared to eat some chicken in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Miz said:

“One day, I was eating a piece of chicken in the locker room, someone comes in and goes ‘dude, you’re eating over my bag’. And his bag was right there, I was like ‘Oh no-no-no, he was like ‘dude you just got stuff all over my bag’. I still don’t think I got stuff on his bag, but I was saying ‘I’m sorry, I apologise’, another person walked in ‘oh, you got stuff on his bag? How could you do that? Unbelievable’. And I thought they were joking.

It was almost like I was just taking the chicken and just like throwing it in the locker room and smearing it all over the place and all over stuff. That’s what I felt like and I’m appalled, I’m like ‘I’m so sorry, I did not mean to do it, I’m just trying to do the right thing here’, and he goes ‘you are not allowed to dress in our locker room, I think you should just stay out of the locker room.'”

Now persona non grata in the locker room, this meant The Miz had to use the same facilities as the paying public when it came to shows:

“When I had to use the restroom, I had to go out into where the audience would use the restroom and where fans would literally, I’d hear kids go ‘dad, I think I just saw Miz go into that stall’, ‘ooh ok son, wait for him’. And I’m sitting there like ‘oh my God, I’m using the restroom right now and this kid is waiting for me outside’, and I have to perform by the way in ten minutes, and so I get out, and you’d hear the rumblings like ‘I hear the Miz is in the bathroom’, like ‘oh my God, this is so humiliating’. But I went through it.”

Despite this setback, The Miz has gone on to great success in WWE. His biggest moment undoubtedly came in 2011 when he won the main event of WrestleMania 27 to retain his WWE Title against John Cena.

The Miz also discussed his first sit-down meeting with Vince McMahon during the documentary. According to The Miz, he was disappointed in what the Chairman’s plans for him were.
