As The Miz becomes the latest WWE Superstar to appear on Dancing With The Stars, the former WWE Champion has revealed the hardest part about being on the hit show.
Speaking before the show got underway, Miz speculated about his prospects in the competition. The reality TV star turned wrestler discussed how his latest challenge differs from what he’s used to inside the ring.
Appearing on 3News with Stephanie Haney, Miz explained how he’s used to trying to get people to hate him, but now he needs people to vote for him to achieve any kind of success on the show.
“Here’s the hard part about being on Dancing with the Stars: you need people to vote for you,”
“The past 16 years, I have been the most egotistical, arrogant jerk on WWE. That is what my character is. He will cheat to win. So now I’m going to ask those people, ‘hey, vote for me! I think people get it and my [USA Network reality show] ‘Miz & Mrs,’ I’ve been able to show my family, my insights of what it’s like to be a WWE superstar, a husband, to be with my wife, to be with my children, so people have been able to see that side of me and now, I hope a broader audience of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ maybe people who don’t watch wrestling, don’t watch WWE, maybe they’ll tune in now because they saw me on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ I hope to just show a little bit of Mike From Parma, Ohio.”
The WWE star also revealed that he’s already lost nine pounds during pre-show training.
“I started this thing at 211 pounds. Two weeks later, I’m at like 202. I’ve already lost nine pounds. This is the lightest I’ve been since maybe I was 22 and on The Real World,”
On night one of the show, Miz along with his partner Witney Carson scored 24 points with their Cha-cha-cha. The couple earned sixes across the board which was enough to net them joint ninth place.
The Miz first came to prominence appearing on the 10th season of MTV reality show, The Real World in 2001. A year later, the reality star appeared in the forth season of WWE Tough Enough, going on to win the competition and a WWE contract.
In the years that followed Miz went on to win every major championship that WWE has to offer. The Triple Crown Champion most recently held the WWE Championship in February 2021.
