The Miz has had his say on his Lumberjack Match with Damian Priest where the lumberjacks turned out to be zombies and The Miz appeared to be devoured after his loss.
Miz and Damian Priest continued their feud that has been simmering since the Royal Rumble into May’s WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view. Having previously defeated Miz’s tag team partner John Morrison, Priest got to pick the stipulation for the match choosing a Lumberjack Match. Little did either man appear to know that the lumberjacks wouldn’t turn out to be their fellow WWE Superstars but rather flesh-eating zombies.
The match turned out to be part of a promotional tie-in with former WWE Champion Dave Bautista’s new Army Of The Dead movie. The response from wrestling fans was mixed, to say the least with many critical of the presentation.
Speaking to Comicbook.com, the ever-positive Miz discussed his reaction to the match and why he feels some of the criticism was unfair.
The Miz explained:
“So a lot of people would be like, “What is this? Oh, my God.” I’m the type of person that goes, this allows my creative juices to do whatever the hell we kind of want. So let’s make a movie out of it. Let’s make a meal out of it. I mean, there was a part in that match where Damian and I worked together to beat up all the zombies. And some people give us flack for going outside the box. And the problem with, I feel like, today’s world is that it’s so easy to just literally go on the Internet and just critique and say, “This is terrible. This is horrible.” With my storyline, with Bad Bunny, nobody wanted to see it up until they wanted to see it at WrestleMania. You know? So nobody wants to let things develop and things get fun.”
The Miz is currently recovering from the first major injury of his WWE career after he tore his ACL which is likely to mean ‘The Most Must-See Superstar’ in WWE might be missing for some time.
