The Miz has explained the emotions he felt when he won his second WWE Championship from Drew McIntyre in early 2021.
Miz first held the biggest prize in wrestling in 2010 by cashing in his Money In The Bank contract against Randy Orton on Raw. During his first reign, The Miz had the honour of headlining WrestleMania 27 against John Cena. After a restarted match and interference from The Rock, to the amazement of most Miz defeated Cena to retain his title.
Over a decade later history repeated itself as The Miz found himself in possession of the Money In The Bank briefcase. This time it was Drew McIntyre that was the victim of his cash in. At the Elimination Chamber event in February 2021, McIntyre had retained the title inside the demonic structure. After the match, Bobby Lashley attacked the Scotsman leaving him at the mercy of The Miz. Miz cashed in and won his second WWE Championship.
Discussing his emotions after winning the title for the second time on his WWE 24 special, The Miz stated:
“So many emotions going through my head, I did it – again. Walking back I remember standing there, just staring at it, [you] think about all the hard work, dedication, and the sacrifices that it took to get there, so that was just a moment for me to be present. The first time, it was cool, people were clapping, it wasn’t sure if everyone took to me, this time I’ve earned the respect, that’s all I’ve ever fought for in WWE. Whenever you get the nod from Vince, that you’re gonna hold that title, there’s no better feeling in the world.”
The Miz held the title for less than two weeks as Lashley demanded a match with him. The two men met in a Lumberjack Match on Raw where Bobby Lashley defeated him for the championship in just over three minutes.
The Miz also talked about the excruciating moment where he forgot his lines on live TV, saying that he thought he was going to be fired.
