WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts made some candid remarks about legendary promoter Ole Anderson, expressing his dislike for him and criticising his booking abilities.
In a recent episode of his podcast, The Snake Pit, Jake Roberts claimed that Anderson only knew how to book himself effectively and struggled to create compelling storylines for other wrestlers. Roberts stated
Ole knew how to book himself, and that’s what he did well. But he didn’t know how to book everybody else. He didn’t have a clue, you know?
Roberts went on to describe Anderson’s match style, highlighting its lack of depth and reliance on run-ins. He explained that the matches were often overshadowed by the anticipation of someone interfering, causing the audience to lose interest in the actual in-ring action. According to Roberts, Anderson’s lack of booking skills extended beyond the wrestling ring. He mentioned instances where Anderson would use his authority to control wrestlers by threatening them with unfavourable career prospects. Roberts recalled Anderson warning him:
Be careful what you say, kid, or you’ll be in f**king Charleston the rest of your life.
Despite his strong opinions, Roberts acknowledged that his dislike for Anderson wasn’t a significant concern. He concluded his statement with a dismissive remark, saying:
I didn’t like him, but big deal.
Why Didn’t Hulk Hogan Want To Wrestle Jake Roberts On TV?
Jake Roberts claimed that Hulk Hogan didn’t want to wrestle him on TV because when they appeared together in a segment Roberts got a stronger babyface crowd reaction. Roberts stated that Hogan and Vince McMahon weren’t happy with this reaction and decided against running it on WWE TV.
