A recently drafted WWE Raw star is incredibly thankful for the words of wisdom given to her by Becky Lynch.
Although Lynch currently reigns as the Women’s World Champion and is one of the biggest stars in the entire company, The Man has admitted on numerous occasions that her success story is an extremely unlikely one. Struggling to stand out from the field and take it to the next level, Lynch’s meteoric rise began at SummerSlam 2018 when she attacked Charlotte Flair.
Despite being portrayed as a heel following the attack, Lynch’s badass persona connected with the fans as The Man felt truly authentic, resulting in the company pivoting and presenting Lynch as one of the top babyfaces. From that point on, Lynch has never looked back.
Former NXT Women’s Champion and recent call-up Lyra Valkyria hopes to replicate the success of Lynch in the future. Also from Ireland and recently drafted to the main roster, Valkyria is proud of what Lynch has accomplished.
Crossing paths at Halloween Havoc 2023, Valkyria defeated Lynch to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. When asked by TV Insider about the bond that they share, Valkyria said the following:
I only met her a little down the line in my career. It has been so incredible to have that person to look toward who grew up down the road from me. An Irish girl who has come so far is just crazy. To come from a place like Ireland, a lot of people don’t have that person they can look up to. So to see what is possible through her and how far one can go is incredible.
Continuing, the Raw star was asked about the best piece of advice she was given by the Women’s World Champion:
“She told me to just be myself and have a lot of trust in what I bring, and I think it’s so clear she has been herself her entire career. That is what has taken her so far. I find that incredibly motivating.”
Valkyria has had a successful start on the main roster. On top of helping Lynch fend off an attack from Damage CTRL, the former NXT Women’s Champion defeated Dakota Kai in the opening round of the Queen of the Ring tournament. Kai was a last-minute replacement for Asuka, who was announced as injured earlier in the show.
Arguably the biggest match of Lynch’s career was the main event of WrestleMania 35 in 2019, which saw The Man walk out as a double champion. Discussing the match to promote her memoir, Becky Lynch revealed the original finish to the match.
Becky Lynch’s Next Title Defence Confirmed
Having won the Women’s World Championship in a Battle Royal on Raw, Lynch will next defend the title at the King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event on May 25th. Lynch’s opponent at the show will be Liv Morgan.
