The IIconics have fondly recalled their debut on the WWE main roster in 2018.
Both Peyton Royce and Billie Kay signed with WWE back in 2015. The Australian duo had previously competed against each other in Australia but soon formed a team on NXT. The pair known as The Iconic Duo remained on the black and gold brand until April 2018.
The team now simply known as The IIconics debuted on SmackDown attacking Charlotte Flair. The highpoint for the pair in WWE came at WrestleMania 35 where they won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Speaking on the first episode of their brand new podcast, Off Her Chops, the pair have now recalled that “insane” debut.
“We debut, SmackDown after WrestleMania, huge deal. Literally, if we could have dreamed up our debut – that’s exactly what we would have booked. Insane. What came after, the weeks after – incredible. So happy. Fast-forward a couple of months we had the Super Showdown in Australia, in Melbourne, in the arena we had our try-out in – that was such a full circle moment.”
Elsewhere on the podcast, the pair also discussed the mental toll travelling takes on a wrestler.
The IIconics disbanded in the summer of 2020 after losing to the Riott Squad. Royce and Kay were then drafted to opposing brands that October.
Both stars were released alongside the likes of Mickie James and Samoa Joe on April 15th 2021.
