Former Iiconics member, Peyton Royce, has revealed that she had no prior knowledge of the team splitting before the moment it happened.
At WWE Payback 2020, the Australian bombshells fell in a tag team bout to The Riott Squad with the writing on the wall for the duo who hadn’t been used in a main capacity since capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 35.
The following evening on Monday Night Raw, their dissention was sealed when they lost a second time to Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan in a bout which stated the losing faction must disband.
However, Royce has now sat down with Sportskeeda to discuss the split which she still appears affected by and how neither woman had any idea it was happening until it was announced on WWE television:
“I mean, it was right there in that moment we found out what the stipulation was that day, maybe the day before, I don’t know, I don’t have a very good memory. But, it really was, Billie and I, we, more than just who we are as WWE Superstars; we have grown up together.
So, for us to like, you know, our whole dreams, our whole journeys have been together. So for that to be just torn apart and like you said, so abruptly, I feel like I’m still digesting it, and I’m still trying my footing without her.”
Unfortunately for both Peyton Royce – who was rumoured for a huge singles push following the draft – and Billie Kay, the separation has yet to yield results with the former being placed in another team with Lacey Evans, while Kay is finding her feet on the blue brand by passing around around her resume and attempting to bed in as a third member of The Riott Squad.
