The greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time, The Honky Tonk Man has described seeing dollar signs when he first set eyes on Hulk Hogan.
Hulk Hogan became one of the most iconic wrestlers ever to put on a pair of boots in a career that saw him revolutionise the entire wrestling industry not once but twice on his way to two inductions into the WWE Hall Of Fame.
But before he ever thought about saying his prayers or taking his vitamins, Hogan competed as Terry Boulder and although not achieving his later success as Boulder, he still competed for the NWA World Heavyweight Title on occasion, packing arenas across the United States.
Speaking to fellow WWE Hall Of Famers JBL and Gerald Brisco on Stories With Brisco And Bradshaw, The Honky Tonk Man described his reaction to first seeing Hogan:
“[Hogan] drew one hell of a house down there in Dothan, Alabama with Harley Race, they were at the football stadium there turning people away. 16, 18,000 people they packed in there for that thing. I knew the minute I saw him though, I knew the minute I saw this boy walk in, he had this thing about him. I mean he had money dripping off of him.”
For The Honky Tonk Man, he had the same thought when he first laid eyes on a young Dwayne Johnson:
“It was like looking at that boy The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, that kid he had money dripping off of him at twelve years old. He was just that kind of kid. They just have it, some guys just have it.”
