WrestleMania Backlash may have seen many top WWE Superstars compete for gold and supremacy but it was The Fiend that was trending after being name-dropped on the show.
The Fiend was the alter ego of former WWE Champion Bray Wyatt, whose 12-year affiliation with WWE came to an end in July 2021 when the company released him from his contract.
Since then speculation has run rampant as to what Wyatt will do next but as of now, he has not competed in any wrestling ring since losing to Randy Orton on Night Two of WrestleMania 37.
Given WWE’s penchant for not name-checking former stars of the company during their shows, many ears were pricked when SmackDown announcer Pat McAfee name-dropped The Fiend at WrestleMania Backlash.
During the show, ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey challenged Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in an I Quit match. The two stars brawled near the ringside barrier when McAfee spotted a child dressed up as The Fiend. McAfee asked “is that The Fiend in the front row?” but his broadcast partner Michael Cole ignored the question.
The question gained traction on social media however as the intrigue of what the former Fiend does next is still unknown and because McAfee’s question appears to many that he isn’t always following WWE’s line of thinking.
