On the October 12th edition of AEW Dynamite a former World Champion referenced The Elite for the first time since they were suspended over a month ago.
After CM Punk went nuclear at the post-All Out media scrum a fight erupted backstage. The ramifications of which are still being felt.
CM Punk, Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks and many more were suspended although some of the more peripheral figures have since returned to work. In the aftermath, the AEW World Championship which had been held by Punk was declared vacant, and the World Trios Title was also vacated. In this case The Elite were stripped of the title just days after becoming the first men to hold it.
While Punk, Omega and the Young Bucks remain suspended and the investigation remains ongoing, none of the four stars have been mentioned or even referenced on AEW programming.
However, on the October 12th edition of Dynamite, Hangman Adam Page eluded to his ‘old friends.’ During a fiery promo exchange with Jon Moxley, Hangman said that he had failed to win the Trios titles alongside his best friends who are slowly starting to disappear, while his old friends are already gone.
Earlier in the promo Page also told Moxley that if he has a problem he should say it to his face. Some fans have interpreted this as a veiled shot at CM Punk, but this appears to be much less clear cut.
Hangman Adam Page is set to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship on a special Tuesday edition of Dynamite on October 18th.
