As many had expected, it appears that Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill’s time as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions looks set to come to an end.
During the November 22nd episode of SmackDown, Cargill was seen laid out on a car after being attacked backstage. Belair, who was in a match at that point, rushed to the back and relinquished her opportunity to become the inaugural Women’s United States Champion.
Unfortunately, a follow-up report stated that Jade Cargill was dealing with a legitimate injury and would be out of action for at least 3 months. With this in mind and with Cargill being one-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, the curse of the titles has sadly continued.
As reported on Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass Q and A, WrestleVotes stated that it appears the titles will be vacated once again:
“Again, [I’m] working on nailing down the details, but I’m hearing they’re gonna have to strip Bianca…yeah, these belts are cursed. I mean, this happens time and time again.”
Jade Cargill Injury Looks Set To End 2nd Title Reign
Cargill and Belair first won the Women’s Tag Team Championships at Backlash by defeating The Kabuki Warriors, which was Asuka’s final match before being side-lined with injury. They would hold the gold until Clash at the Castle in Scotland where they lost the titles to Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. Cargill and Belair won the championships back at Bash In Berlin.
If the titles are vacated, this will be the third time that it has happened. The first instance took place in 2022 when Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of a Raw taping and left their championships on the desk of Talent Relations. One year later Liv Morgan was forced to relinquish her championship after suffering a legitimate shoulder injury. Morgan’s partner was Raquel Rodriguez.
Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville’s reign looked to be in jeopardy when Deville suffered a torn ACL. However, Piper Niven stepped in as Green’s partner to allow the reign to continue.
In a new interview, a member of the Raw roster was asked about the Jade Cargill attack.
