Jeff Jarrett believes that The Undertaker will return, but not in the way that fans might expect.
Retiring at Survivor Series 2020 and being inducted into the Hall of Fame 2022, The Phenom has chosen a unique tactic for subsequent appearances. During his 2 follow-up appearances during Raw XXX and the October 10th episode of NXT that went head to head with AEW Dynamite, Taker has made his appearances as The American Badass. When discussing life after WWE in interviews, the Hall of Famer stated that his Deadman persona has now been retired and he will not put on the coat and hat anymore. However, according to Jarrett, that doesn’t mean that the character would be completely retired.
Speaking on his My World podcast, Jarrett was asked if he could ever see performers reprise iconic personas such as Undertaker or Kane in the future in a similar way that AAA has in the past. The Hall of Famer responded that he believes that it is almost a certainty that it will happen:
“Buddy, timing is everything, and creative is subjective. But can you imagine, and again, when I say timing, I’m not talking about the mechanics of a match. I’m talking about the whole essence of a storyline and the build, and again, you have, I’ll just use…can you imagine the right set of circumstances, the gong go off, the Undertaker’s gong? Look, Mark’s doing one-man shows now, and he’s very active, [he has a] podcast and all that. So maybe today the time isn’t right, I don’t know. But do I think it’s a real possibility? I think it’s almost a guarantee [that someone else does the Undertaker character],”
Jarrett continued, explaining that the only reason why a reprisal would work would be due to the legendary run The Undertaker had from 1990 to 2020 in WWE:
“It wouldn’t be possible, in this case, without Mark’s incredible run. Same with, there’s multiple situations and instances in Mexico with this. It’s the nature of the beast. As a creative guy, man, that would be fun to write and book and everything that goes with it,”
Jeff Jarrett Discusses AEW Criticism
Currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, Jarrett has been a part of a number of divisive matches and angles during his time with the promotion, including the heavily criticised Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game-sponsored match. Previously discussing fans’ issues with the product, Jeff Jarrett noted that people are always going to complain.
In regards to The Undertaker, the Hall of Famer explained his bizarre fear of cucumbers.
