A champion in AEW has joined the masses in praising the work of Will Ospreay.
For a number of years, fans of New Japan and the UK independents have regularly touted Ospreay as a star of the future. Upon making sporadic appearances for All Elite Wrestling and later signing with the promotion full-time, The Aerial Assassin has been given an opportunity to showcase his skills to a wider audience. Pulling off big moves with ease and regularly putting on the match of the night, Ospreay has continued to cement his legacy as one of the best workers of his generation. According to Tag Team Champion Matt Jackson, the British wrestler is the best wrestler by a considerable margin.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso for Undisputed, Jackson stated that he and Nick knew Ospreay would become one of the defining stars of his era but couldn’t let him know that at the time:
“When we first met Will many years ago, we called him a wrestling prodigy. He was young and inexperienced but so far ahead of everybody else,” Jackson said. “And it all came so easy to him. We’d whisper to each other about how he was probably going to end up being the best wrestler in the world one day, but how we couldn’t let him know that because we didn’t want that to go to a young man’s developing brain. We didn’t want to feed his ego [laughs]. Now, all these years later, and he’s clearly the best in-ring wrestler on the planet. And I’m not sure it’s even close.”
Will Ospreay Looks Back On AEW Dream Match
Earlier in the year, Ospreay faced off against Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty in what many believe will be the match of the year when all is said and done in 2024. Speaking exclusively with Inside The Ropes Magazine, Will Ospreay looked back on the match and if it lived up to his expectations.
