The AEW Star Who Believes That Dream Match Against Kazuchika Okada Is Their Destiny

A rising star in AEW believes that it will only be a matter of time before they face off against Kazuchika Okada.

In a move that few would have predicted back in January, The Rainmaker made the shocking announcement that he would not be renewing his contract with NJPW and would seek out other opportunities. Two months later, Kazuchika Okada confirmed what many had already expected as he made his debut as a contracted member of the AEW roster and aligned himself with The Young Bucks.

While fans are eagerly anticipating rematches from some of Okada’s biggest matches in NJPW such as Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay, Konosuke Takeshita is looking for the first match with the Continental Champion.

Speaking with Tokyo Sports, Takeshita stated that it is his destiny to face off against the New Japan icon and is more confident it will happen now that they are both in the same promotion:

“I think it’s destiny. Even before I came to the U.S., some people said that Takeshita vs. Okada was a dream match, and while we had completely different paths, now we belong to the same organization. When the time is right, I think that the match vs. Okada will happen, and I’d like to make it a match that attracts more attention and reaches wrestling fans around the world than it does now.”

Former Kazuchika Okada Opponent Addresses Issues In Match

While Okada has been regarded by many as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, his match against Ultimo Guerrero on a recent episode of Collision is unlikely to be featured in any highlight packages. Addressing the issues in the Kazuchika Okada match, Guerrero explained what went wrong that night.
