WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has weighed in on one of the most debated decisions in wrestling history: the end of The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania streak.
Speaking on a 2024 episode of his podcast Kliq This, Nash didn’t hold back, calling the decision to end the streak a mistake that should never have happened.
“The only thing that this company has done that I am absolutely, 100% sure should have never happened was, you never should’ve beaten Undertaker at WrestleMania,” Nash said. “That streak, there was no upside to ever doing anything with that, because every WrestleMania you have, going forward, you had a 10-minute package about that streak, and that was something that was special. There was no reason to beat Mark.”
The Undertaker’s iconic streak began in 1991 at WrestleMania 7, where he defeated “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka. Over the next two decades, he racked up 21 consecutive victories at WWE’s biggest annual event, missing only WrestleMania X due to injury. His undefeated run became a centrepiece of the show, drawing massive anticipation each year.
That all changed at WrestleMania 30 in 2014, when The Undertaker faced Brock Lesnar. In a shocking result that stunned fans worldwide, Lesnar pinned The Undertaker after delivering three F-5s in a match that lasted just over 25 minutes.
The decision remains one of the most polarising moments in modern wrestling history. For Nash, the streak’s value went far beyond wins and losses; it was about mystique, tradition, and storytelling. While The Undertaker would go on to win more WrestleMania matches, the aura of the streak was gone, and for Nash, it’s a loss WWE never should have allowed.
Which WWE Hall Of Famer Did Kevin Nash Wasn’t “One Of The Boys”?
Kevin Nash spoke about how he believes The Ultimate Warrior wasn’t “one of the boys” and how he rejected a pitch made to him by Vince McMahon to put over Warrior when Nash was set to leave for WCW in 1996. Nash said that because Warrior wasn’t social backstage, he didn’t want to put him over and instead said he’d put over anyone else in the company, such as Shawn Michaels or The Undertaker.
