Former IMPACT World Champion Tessa Blanchard is reportedly inching closer to a return to the ring.
Blanchard, who remains the only woman to hold IMPACT’s top prize hasn’t been seen in the ring since September 2020.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, Blanchard is set to return to the ring with the relaunch of WOW Women of Wrestling. According to the report, the second generation star is the only major talent, alongside another former WOW wrestler to be attached to the project. The relaunch of the promotion is set to be announced at a press conference on October 6th.
The report goes on to say that Blanchard is yet to sign a contract and the promotion will be not returning imminently. LA Lakers owner Jeanie Buss remains attached to the project as she still technically owns the company. The report closes by saying that Fightful had reached out to several former WOW wrestlers but they hadn’t been “clued in” on plans for a relaunch.
“Most told Fightful that they haven’t heard from WOW creator David McLane since last year when they were e-mailed and asked to not post in regards to controversies of alleged bullying surrounding Blanchard.”
Tessa Blanchard signed with IMPACT Wrestling in 2018. The daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Tully Blanchard, first won the Knockouts Title before defeating Sami Callihan to claim the World Title.
Blanchard left IMPACT in June 2020, after a series of allegations were made against the star.
The former AAA Reina de Reinas Champion, has also been repeatedly linked with a move to AEW. The junior Blanchard did wrestle on the precursor to All Elite Wrestling – the All In show in 2018.
However, speaking in February, Tony Schiavone said that she wouldn’t be joining the promotion “anytime soon.”
