The Undertaker has opened up about the day he had to preside over an amusing Teddy Long case in Wrestler’s Court.
Back in the day, Wrestler’s Court did exactly what it said on the tin. It was a faux courtroom in the locker space of some arena where a professional wrestler would stand trial for something they had been held accountable for doing. Usually, the court would be attended by a host of locker room leaders and several others in power and for years its judge was The Undertaker.
Now, ‘The Deadman’ has opened the door to his Wrestler’s Court sessions on the Broken Skull Sessions with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.
Recalling one particularly amusing story, ‘Taker told the tale of how respected manager and personality Teddy Long was brought before the court for selling Viagra to the roster:
“Teddy Long was brought up on charges. He somehow or another came into possession of [Viagra]. He comes into a stash of ‘blue diamonds.’ I guess he had more on him than he would be able to use, and decided to start selling them to the boys. I’m pretty sure that Teddy didn’t pay for them, but he was selling them to the boys. It came out that he got them for nothing. I’m pretty sure Bradshaw discovered all that. He went on trial for selling Viagra to the boys. You got lucky and scored all this, don’t try to make a profit off the boys, especially, you’re not taking bumps. He got brought up on charges. Mae Young was a witness and I’m not quite sure why. She was more upset with, ‘I don’t know why all you young guys need all the Niagra!’ That’s what she called it. ‘Why y’all need that Niagra? You young guys should be ready to go without all that Niagra!’ [Teddy] was found guilty.”
Teddy Long and The Undertaker have a long history together. Not only did the manager oversee the legend’s time as ‘Mean’ Mark Callous in WCW, but Long presided over a lengthily period of Calaway’s career on SmackDown as General Manager, which included a heel turn when he was forced to join La Familia.
The Undertaker told many more tales on his second and final visit to Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions, including how the plans for his WrestleMania 30 match with Brock Lesnar changed on the day and how he was given the choice of Ric Flair or Rob Van Dam at WrestleMania X8.
Mark ‘The Undertaker’ Calaway retired from professional wrestling at the 2020 WWE Survivor Series on November 22, thirty years to the day he first strode out under the black cloak.
