Ted DiBiase Praises The Unsung Heroes That Made Him Look Good

Ted DiBiase Honours The Unsung Heroes That Made Him Look Good

WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase has named Southern wrestling fixture George South as his favourite enhancement talent to work with during his illustrious career, while also acknowledging the contributions of Mario Mancini.

Speaking on a recent episode of “Everybody’s Got A Pod,” the “Million Dollar Man” reflected on the unsung heroes of professional wrestling who helped established stars look good on television despite rarely securing victories themselves.

Well, I love George South… he was an enhancement guy for me too. But I worked with the other guy [Mario Mancini] like what’d you say, four times. But overall, I would have to go with George.

Enhancement talents played a pivotal role in wrestling’s territorial era through the early 1990s. These performers specialised in making their opponents look impressive through competitive but ultimately one-sided matches on weekly television programs, helping create and maintain the aura of wrestling’s biggest stars.

While South earned Ted DiBiase’s highest praise, the WWE legend also confirmed a long-standing story shared by Mancini about their professional relationship. According to Mancini, after working several matches on TV together, Ted DiBiase advocated for him behind the scenes, suggesting to WWE executive Pat Patterson that the two should begin a program together.

I do remember that. My attitude was how many times have the people seen me with the same guy who basically was an enhancement talent and how many times am I gonna wrestle him and beat him before we’ve had enough. But a good guy, and hearing him recant that, it was a pretty good idea.

Ted DiBiase Shares His Thoughts On WWE Hall Of Famer

Also on a recent podcast, Ted DiBiase gave his thoughts on the late “Ravishing” Rick Rude, praising his gimmick, but that he wasn’t the nearly the greatest wrestler he’d been around.
