Ted DiBiase Deletes Statement On Son Ted DiBiase Jr.’s Arrest

Ted DiBiase is inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his son's Ted Jr and Brett

WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase came under fire on social media for a tweet that he called “untimely” in light of his son’s recent federal indictment on charges of fraud and theft.

Back in May of 2022, DiBiase and his sons Ted DiBiase Jr. and Brett DiBiase were among 38 names in a civil lawsuit seeking to reclaim a total of $24 million dollars which was meant to be used to tackle poverty in Mississippi. NFL legend Brett Favre was also listed among the names.

At the time, Brett DiBiase was the only one to face criminal charges and pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States in U.S. District Court earlier in 2023. Brett had already pleaded guilty to other charges related to the scandal back in late 2020.

On April 20th, the United States Department of Justice issued a press release stating that Ted DiBiase Jr. was officially being indicted with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and theft, six counts of wire fraud, two counts of theft, and four counts of money laundering due to his alleged involvement in the scandal. He could face decades in prison if convicted on all charges.

As the Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase, Sr. often used the catchphrase “everybody’s got a price,” but he was taken to task on social media after posting the phrase yesterday in a now-deleted tweet. The phrase was accompanied by him forcing an enhancement talent to eat money, and fans found it insensitive considering the serious charges being brought against his son.

In response, the WWE Hall of Famer posted a statement on social media to apologize for the mis-timed tweet and address his family situation. He said the tweet was scheduled in advance by his social media team. The statement has now been deleted, but a screenshot can be seen below.

“I’D LIKE TO PERSONALLY ISSUE AN APOLOGY FOR AN UNTIMELY POST THAT WAS PUBLISHED THROUGH MY SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS EARLIER TODAY.

AS YOU KNOW I TRY TO SHARE NOSTALGIC MEMORIES FROM MY WRESTLING CAREER AS A WAY FOR FANS TO REVISIT THEIR CHILDHOOD MEMORIES. SINCE MY TIME IS LIMITED DUE TO TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS THE POSTS ARE APPROVED BY ME AHEAD OF TIME AND SCHEDULED FOR A LATER DATE.

OUR FAMILY IS CURRENTLY NAVIGATING A DIFFICULT SEASON AND WHILE WE CANNOT SPEAK TO THESE EVENTS PUBLICLY, WE APPRECIATE YOUR PRAYERS DURING THIS TIME.

PLEASE KNOW THAT I TRULY APPRECIATE THE LOVE AND SUPPORT FROM THE FANS! YOU HAVE BEEN APART OF OUR FAMILY FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS, AND FOR THAT I COULD NEVER THANK YOU ENOUGH.”
