Speaking to Variety, Jarrett shared that he has known Swift since she was a “little girl.” The incident took place in 2006, when the multi-Grammy winner moved to the AEW star’s hometown of Hendersonville, Tennessee.
As per the Hall of Famer, the singer’s friend had suggested that they stop over at the Jarretts’ home after they heard about the diagnosis. He said that Swift had initially turned up without her guitar, but rushed home to get it because his daughters wanted her to sing and play for them.
The WWE legend stated that what was meant to be a small family gathering turned into a private performance for about 45 people. Double J said that Taylor Swift ended up playing for three hours and said the performance was an “amazing experience.” He said that the gesture meant a lot to them as his wife was “really ill” at the time and unfortunately passed away five months after the private concert.
Jarret also stated that Swift still maintains contact with his family, something that means a lot to his daughters. He also revealed that Swift used to babysit his daughters after his wife passed away. He said:
“When my wife passed away, Taylor would come around and was really good with the girls.”
