Congratulations to Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo, who celebrated the birth of their first child this week!
At Double or Nothing back in May, Sammy Guevara competed in a fatal four way match for the AEW World Championship. Despite coming up short in the bout as MJF retained his title, the event is a memorable one for Guevara, as he and his wife Tay Melo announced that they were expecting their first child.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, the Spanish God described the moment as “surreal,” admitting that he almost started crying.
“I had to snap out of it. I almost started crying. It was just very surreal. Us four young guys, wrestling for the world title and then right before that, going out there and announcing we’re having a baby.”
Sammy Guevara And Tay Melo Welcomed Daughter Luna On November 28th
Now, the couple have taken to social media to announce that their daughter Luna Melo Guevara was born on November 28th after a grueling 24 hours of labor.
“Luna Melo Guevara 💫
11/28/2023 8.4lbs and 24+ hours of labor.
Our life is complete!”
Guevara has been out of action with a concussion, but according to a recent report, he’s healed and will likely be returning to AEW soon now that his wife has given birth.
Melo hasn’t wrestled in AEW since teaming with Anna JAS in defeat to Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale. Her most recent match came on March 11th when she teamed with her husband in a mixed tag team match at WrestleFest XXVII. Regardless, she is setting her post-pregnancy aspirations high, targeting the AEW Women’s World Championship.
